Black Geek Movie Talk: Mad Max Fury Road

    in Movies

This week we review "Mad Max: Fury Road" starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult directed and written by the original Mad Max director himself, George Miller. It's been 30 years since we last saw the post apocalyptic desert ravaged world of the title character "Mad" Max Rockatansky. From the trailers, the car chases seem more extravagent, the explosions seem bigger and the bizarro cast of mad inhabitants seem even more bizarre. Does the future really belong to the Mad? Tune in this Sunday to find out.

Breaking the Chains.....Leading Change Requires Vision

    in Motivation

    I have a dream...Celebrating Our Jubilee!

Our forefathers and mothers planted trees from which we gather fruit, and dug wells from which we quench our thirst. Civil Rights Activist marched for us, died for us and pleaded for our equality.

So what are we leaving behind for our communities today? What are we fostering in the minds of our Black children? How will we strengthen our families and our communities? How will we show the power of LOVE in the world? How are we Leading Change?

Fifty years ago, Dr. King's "I Have a Dream..." Speech debuted in Detroit and transformed a nation. Today, we Celebrate our Jubilee and join in that movement of teaching us all to evolve in our beliefs, values and purpose for the elevation of our consciousness into the greatness that lies in the Human Spirit.

Leading change in the City of Detroit, a landmark city that has set the direction of the entire nation, requires Visionaries willing to step in and speak up for the equality of all residents. With the challenge of access to capital to redevelop this city, they must innovate new ways to access capital otherwise, we will continue to see investors siezing opportunity at the expense of the misfortune and disadvantages of others. We must demand new leadership if we want to see change that support all communities, and not just a few.

With 75-82% of the city being Black Americans, we can't stand by and watch, if we want our children to believe in the freedom our forefathers fought for us to have and continue the fight. Tune in to today's show to learn how we, the majority of residents, can begin empowering our communities and be part of Detroit's rebirth!

We are powerful, and together we rise!
