Religion is a very controversial topic, primarily because it is one of the key ways that we define ourselves. I am Baptist. I am Apostolic. I am Jewish. I am Catholic. The list goes on and on. Religion can be the core of a person; it encompasses their set of values and beliefs. An attack on a religious thought is seen as an attack on that person, and that in turn is seen as something to be defended. You attack a religion, you are attacking the core of a person's self, and that causes controversy. Because we’ve defined ourselves this way, we have the need to be right. Well, everyone can’t be right. For this reason, I constantly tell people that you have to know Him (and for me that Him is God) for yourself. Religion is not so much about rules and beliefs as it is about relationship.
Aunty Fee Fee brings people together in a very unorthodox way—she uses comedy to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through songs and words of wisdom, Aunty Fee Fee has become a YouTube sensation, and discusses how laughter is medicine for the soul.
The stigma surrounding mental health issues in the African American community is especially thick, making it very difficult for persons suffering from depression to acknowledge it, let alone seek treatment. Some believe that therapy is only for wealthy, White people, or that you aren’t supposed to go outside the family with your problems. In the faith-based community we are taught to rely on faith and prayer much more than therapy. This mindset keeps us struggling more than we need to. In fact, statistics show that African Americans are more likely to have depression for longer periods because we don’t receive proper diagnosis and treatment.
Host, J'son M. Lee, and author Imani Wisdom have both battled depression. Tune in to hear their stories. Let's break the taboo!
Mista Keem (born as Akeem Jones), is a twenty-three-year-old songwriter, producer and hip hop recording artist originally from Brooklyn, NY. He started out writing his first song at the age of fourteen, and has never stopped writing. By the time he was nineteen, he became a radio personality for 105.7 The Beat-Meridian, which inspired him to go from writing to carefully molding his own lane in music. Mista Keem doesn’t believe in making music about a life he doesn’t live.
“Honest and unfabricated,” Mista Keem’s inspirations are Brandy, LL Cool J, Heavy D and dynamic songwriting of Mariah Carey, Bryan Michael Cox, Sean Garrett, Claude Kelly, Babyface and The-Dream. Mista is hard at work on his new, yet-untitled mixtape set for release in 2014.

Writeous Talk on Love and Relationship is a show dedicated to thought-provoking content that encourages meaningful dialogue about love & relationships between single men and women who desire to be married. We'll discuss real issues that women talk about among themselves and men talk about among themselves, but rarely discuss openly between us. This show is not intended to pit men and women against one another as shows do which spark ratings/listenership, but does nothing to better our collective or individual understanding of one another which will ultimately improve the quality of our relationships. That is the mission and purpose of this show.
ABOUT YOUR HOST:
Derek Q. Sanders is a published author, blogger, public speaker, songwriter, and a musician. He has traveled the country as a musician on two consecutive tours with international spoken word artist, Mike Ellison.
On love & relationships, Derek speaks from a place of transparency and truth. He writes from two key premises (1) in the current societal landscape, women are not only undervalued, they are devalued being routinely objectified daily through mainstream media and entertainment. He provides insightful content that uplifts with truth & love. (2) There are far too few platforms that encourage open and honest dialogue between men and women that center on real issues that affect the health and well-being of our relationships. He creates that needed space.
Derek's mission is to foster strong healthy relationships by providing thought-provoking commentary that creates the atmosphere for dialogue that invites meaningful conversations between men and women to improve the quality of our relationships by finding and offering viable solutions.
