    The Prayer Motivator Minute #610

    in Christianity

Robert Velarde said: "Prayer can make a profound difference in our world. But it is up to us to offer our prayers humbly and regularly."

This is Daniel Whyte III with the Prayer Motivator Minute #610 here to remind you that there is still great power in prayer to God Almighty.

Our prayer motivator passage from the Word of God today is Psalm 39:12 which reads: "Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were."

Our prayer motivator quote today is from J. Stuart Holden. He said: "Here is the secret of prevailing prayer, to pray under a direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit, whose petitions for us and through us are always according to the Divine purpose, and hence certain of answer. 'Praying in the Holy Ghost' is but co-operating with the will of God, and such prayer is always victorious. How many Christians there are who cannot pray, and who seek by effort, resolve, joining prayer circles, etc., to cultivate in themselves the 'holy art of intercession,' and all to no purpose. Here for them and for all is the only secret of a real prayer life—“Be filled with the Spirit,” who is 'the Spirit of grace and supplication.'"

610 - Risaalah: The Beginning of Prophethood

    in Islam

This is the1st in a short series of classes intented to introduce the student the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). This is not intended to be an in-depth Seerah Class. We will only be covering about a dozen or so major events in the Life of Allah's Final Messenger to mankind! This is a good starting point for the beginner who is unfamiliar with his biography.

Testifying to the fact that "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" is the 2nd 1/2 of what makes someone a Muslim. Implicit in that statement is covenant on behalf of the Muslim to follow and imitate him. This can only take place if the Muslim has a genuine love of the Prophet. One cannot be in love with someone who he is not familiar with! This class is intended to increase that love!

Social Media's Impact on Literacy Live Panel Discussion from St. George Book Fe

    in Entertainment

The St. George Book Festival is celebrating its 10th Anniversary.

As part of this year's activities, the St. George Book Festival has asked its community one very important questions many readers, teachers and libraries have asked, "What is Social Media’s Impact on Literacy?"

The St. George Book Festival will be airing live here on BlogTalkRadio's featured World of Ink Network on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, starting at 5 pm Pacific - 6 pm Mountain - 7 pm Centeral - 8 pm Eastern and will offer a free community forum on “Social Media’s Impact on Literacy.”

The National Assessment of Adult Literacy defines literacy as "using printed and written information to function in society, to achieve one’s goals, and to develop one’s knowledge and potential."  The illiteracy skill level is based on a fourth-grade level. The reason for the reference to the fourth-grade level mentioned above is that in nearly all U.S. schools, the only reading taught after the fourth grade is remedial reading. If that is all they can read, however, they are functionally illiterate. This means about 23% of the national U.S. population falls under the category functionally illterate.

The discussion will take place at DXATC, 610 S. Airport Road in St. George at 6 pm Moutain fon October 21, 2015 for those who live in the area. Panel members include Lenore Madden, Casie Forbes, Stace Hall, Kristy Pike, and students of DSU. This discussion will tackle the expanding role in Social Media on literacy.

For more information on these and other events associated with the 10th Annual St. George Book Festival, please go to www.stgeorgebookfestival.org

Praying With Purpose, Part 16 (TPMD Bus 2 - #610)

    in Christianity

TODAY'S POEM: "Pray When the Morn is Breaking" by Jane C. Simpson.

Today, we are completing David’s prayer found in 1 Chronicles 17:18-27 which reads.

Our featured prayer motivator quote is from Samuel Chadwick. He said: "There is no power like that of prevailing prayer, of Abraham pleading for Sodom, Jacob wrestling in the stillness of the night, Moses standing in the breach, Hannah intoxicated with sorrow, David heartbroken with remorse and grief, Jesus in sweat of blood. Add to this list from the records of the church your personal observation and experience, and always there is the cost of passion unto blood. Such prayer prevails. It turns ordinary mortals into men of power. It brings power. It brings fire. It brings rain. It brings life. It brings God."

My personal encouragement for you today is this: A Christian cannot have a victorious, overcoming, and vibrant life without prayer. Of course, there are other important things a Christian needs as well such as the Word of God, the local church, and fellowship with other believers. But if we are to be successful in all of these areas, we must undergird these things with prayer.

Our prayer motivator devotional today is titled "THE POSSIBILITIES OF TRUE PRAYER" part 2 from the book, "Purpose in Prayer" by E.M. Bounds.

It is not an easy thing to pray. Back of the praying there must lie all the conditions of prayer. These conditions are possible, but they are not to be seized on in a moment by the prayerless. Present they always may be to the faithful and holy, but cannot exist in nor be met by a frivolous, negligent, laggard spirit. Prayer does not stand alone. It is not an isolated performance...

In 2010, David, along with his brother Jonathan and Joshua Wagner began to explore why some guys were more successful socially than others. Why, the trio wondered, did some guys have a lot of friends, have women practically begging for their attention, and advance so easily at work, while others were lonely, dateless, and going nowhere at work? After thousands of hours of research and personal observation, and diving into diverse fields like psychology, nutrition, and even quantum physics, they discovered the “science of popularity.” ThePopularMan.com
