    Racism

    in Christianity

Racism w/guests Jovan Mackenzy, T Deimaris Barlow, & Erick Rose

Racism has exsisted for a very long time throughout history in the world, and here in America we have a part of our History during the times of slavery where black men and women were treated as less then human. We would like to think we have come along way since those days but have we? While racism has never truly gone away in our country and most likely will always be around in some form until the Lord returns, over the last year or so we have seen an increase of this or at least it seems as an increase now that with social media videos and photos can quickly travel in minutes if not seconds. Allowing everyone to see acts of racism much more then may have possibly been seen without the internet and access to video cameras at the touch of our fingertips on just about every phone that someone may have.

My prayer for this show is to really talk about this issue of racism and what we are seeing our country. Talking about the police, black on black crime, repsonses from white people, racial profiling, the sin of racism, and what we can do better as Christians to enagage and respond to the sin of racism and show the world how to deal with this issue from a biblical worldview. While at the same time not minimizing the hurt, pain and anger felt by those who have been on the negative side of racism because of the color of their skin.

    Facing Racism

    in Entertainment

Generally speaking, discussions on race in America have been approached with a "rear-view" perspective as if racism is currently a non-existent thing of the past.  There is no denying Amierca has a race problem.  Current events have proven race issues are widespread and on the verge of going completely out of control as incidents in Ferguson, MO, NYC and Virginia have shown. In this Gospel Talk episode, Mona Austin takes a look at mounting race-related crimes that have occured in the US over the last year.

    Racism Exist............So What ?

    in Real Estate

Today on "It's My House" we shall discuss "racism" and ask the question "How Is Racism Hold You Back ?".

Just for the record racism is:

NOT holding anyone back from starting a business.
NOT preventing anyone from buying a house.
Not stopping anyone from getting as much education as the please.
Not preventing anyone from traveling anywhere that they want on the planet.
Not preventing you from being happy.
Not preventing anyone from empowering themselves.

The only power that racism has is what U ALLOW IT to have in your life.

    Racism exist............BUT SO WHAT !

    Racism

    in Religion

Shirley Sherrod was forced to resign from the USDA for perceived racist comments at a NAACP event. In South Carolina a white man killed a black man and dragged his body behind a pickup truck. A member of the New Black Panther Party makes statements of killing white babies. A white man kills a black woman and drags her body behind his truck. Is racism on the rise? Do the scriptures give guidance on racism?  Please feel free to phone into the Virtual Living room with your comments or questions.

Racism- Got To Treat The Cancer

    in Current Events

In the definition of “racism”, the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, to distinguish it as superior to another race is primary. Prejudice, discrimination, and antagonism directed against someone of a darker hue based on the belief that one's own race is superior has dominated the behavior of many Americans in the United States.

Racism has existed throughout human history- hatred of one person by another because of skin color, language and customs  influenced wars, promotion of slavery and the formation of nations. When Portuguese sailors first explored Africa in the 15th century, they came upon empires and cities as advanced as their own and they considered Africans to be serious rivals. Over time, as  European powers began to plunder the continent and forcibly remove its inhabitants to work as slave laborers in new colonies across the Atlantic, Africans came to be seen as a deficient "species," as "savages." This view was necessary to justify the slave trade at a time when Western culture had begun to promote individual rights and human equality.

Black people are seen by racists as merely subhuman, more like beasts than men. American scientists and philosophers devised a false racial "science" to "prove" the supremacy of non-Jewish whites. While the Nazi annihilation of Jews discredited most of these supposedly scientific efforts to elevate one race over another, small numbers of scientists and social scientists have continued throughout the 20th century to argue the inborn shortcomings of certain races, especially Black people.  What may seem to be significant "racial" differences to some people - skin color, hair, facial shape - are not of scientific significance.

    Facing Racism Part 2

    in Entertainment

Is it racist to pass laws or ordinances that seemingly target a specific group?  In this episode we address a seemingly discrinatory "sagging" law in Opelousas, LA and other forms of systematic racism. Also, we will address the high rate of violence within the African American community.
