On Wednesday February 9, 2011 our guest is Mary Ann Vorasky. Mary is a paralegal, singer, songwriter and activist. She joins us this week to tell us about a wonderful event she is organizing this month. "A Valentine for the Democratic Republic of the Congo" Civil Unions For All is holding a benefit for UNICEF at Cafe Audrey in Hollywood, California, on Sunday, February 13, 2011. The cafe is named after Audrey Hepburn and was chosen as the site for the benefit because Audrey Hepburn was UNICEF’s first Goodwill Ambassador. She started working for UNICEF in the 1950's and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 in recognition of her work. This benefit is a Valentine to the women and children of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Hundreds of women and children are raped in the DRC each day, thousands each month. The DRC has long been war-torn and despite recent “peace” the rapes continue. Join us at 8pm(PST). Listeners can call in live (917) 889-7449 or join in via our online chat. Use the “Set a Reminder Function” now and you won’t miss a minute.
