I have finally figured out how to make a multiplayer version of the UK's long running game show Countdown. The game is made of 2 rounds..... Round 1, there will be 24 (or 25 cards depending on how many players play). Behind the cards, is either the word LETTERS or NUMBERS (signifying the game you will play) and EASY, MEDIUM, HARD (the difficulty of the puzzle). For LETTERS, Easy will give you 6 letters, Medium will give you 8 letters, and HARD will give you 10. The player choosing the card will have 30 seconds to make the longest word possible (using the letters given). Before the letters are given, the other players can CHALLENGE the person IN CONTROL to use ALL the letters. Scoring to the person IN CONTROL is 1 point per letter used. For those players who challenge, they will earn 2 points for each letter UNUSED. However, if the player uses all the letters, then for each challenge, each challenge will earn 3 points on easy, 4 points on medium and 5 points for hard. Now for the numbers, easy will give you 4 numbers and a target between 10 and 99, medium will give you 5 numbers and a target between 10 and 200. hard will give you 7 numbers and a target between 100 and 999. Challenges are made if you think the person IN CONTROL can't solve the puzzle. 10 points if the puzzle is solved, 8 points if within 10 of the answer, 6 if within 20 of the answer. Challenges are worth HALF the puzzle if successful. If the puzzle is solved, then for each challenge, HALF the puzzle is added. After 3 picks for each player, we play round 2, where the players IN CONTROL choose the puzzle and difficulty, with all the points DOUBLED. However, no player can play no more than 2 of the same puzzle consecutively. The player with the most points, wins.
