It is a condition in which brain tissue (part of the cerebellum, the part the of the brain that controls coordination and muscle movement, to protrude into the space normally occupied by the spinal cord) resulting in the brain becoming to large for the skull. It can cause non-communicating hydrocephalus (water on the brain) due to obstruction of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). It can cause severe and debilitating headaches, chronic fatigue, loss of vision, ringing in ears, muscle weakness in the head and face, difficulty swallowing, dizziness, nausea, impaired coordination, increased intercranial pressure, rapid heart rate, fainting, excessive thirst, sleep apnea, sleep disorders, and, in severe cases, paralysis and death. There is no cure.
