Publishing Swaggie Coleman Keeps Literacy Strong!

When I first began publishing Professional Blogger, Swaggie Coleman, I had no idea how much she would grow!  Swaggie is a Professional Blogger who maintains a blogazine at http://swaggiecoleman.blogspot.com.

This is a very unique blogazine that offers the African-American culture an opportunity to participate in literature and art to uplift the community beginning with self.  Swaggie's Voice, as it is known, creates picture stories about issues faced by the African-American community and is awe-inspiring!

In addition, Swaggie maintains a running list of "Thumbs Up" books by and for African-Americans.  There are titles for every age group and not exclusively for African-Americans.  However, it gives African-American authors much needed exposure in their own community as well as the main stream community.  The books are carefully selected and must reach a high standard of promoting literacy in the community along with cultural values of faith, family, unity, community, accomplishment, love, pride, determination, spirituality, and success to name a few.  As a Black Book Reviewer for RAWSISTAZ, Swaggie features books where her unique reviews are posted on www.BlackBookReviews.net as well.  Check out which books won literary awards after Swaggie reviewed them!

Another great feature of Swaggie's Voice, http//swaggiecoleman.blogspot, is that Swaggie has embarked on a one-woman show to showcase African-American male authors during 2008.  This idea was spawned by Professional Blogger, Swaggie Coleman, who blogged for 28 days straight for a literary event sponsored by EDC Creations and the Sankofa Literary Society during February 2008, Black History Month.  You can check out all of Swaggie's blogs and forum discussions at www.blackhistory365.ning.com/profiles/SwaggieC.  The woman is amazing if I must say so myself!

Each month since February, Swaggie has landed an interview with some very interesting and exciting African-American Authors.  Among these distinguished authors are:  Dr. Ajumal, author of the fantastic book:  "Spiritual Shackles;"  Minister Dwight Fryer, Author of "The Legend of Quito Road" and "The Knees of Gullah Island;" Author Keith Belvin a/k/a K.L.thewriter and author of the newly released book:  "A Man In Transition;" and newcomer author, Mr. Abdul Ali, who is the former Managing Editor of Howard University's Journal, "The Amistad."  For the remaining of the year, there will be an exceptionally great and interesting author discussing their books and commitment to the Black Pledge each month.

I am always asked why Swaggie does not do live interviews as she gets up close and personal with these dynamic authors.  Well, Swaggie believes in the strength of reading for comprehension and wisdom and the calming affects of slowing down your hectic pace to smell the flowers.  Personally, I find that I can get to know these authors better and that excites me to purchase their books.  What do you think?  Visit Swaggie's Voice at http://swaggiecoleman.blogspot.com and read the interviews.  Feel free to comment or send me an e-mail about how you think Swaggie's doing with promoting literacy her way!

Because you will find topics ranging from grief in the community to worship, I encourage you all to take some time during this summer to wet your palettes without leaving your home.  The authors featured have new releases that are sure to interest you.  The information shared on Swaggie's Voice is priceless, too.

Thus, I am proud that Levine-Oliver Publisher has accepted the task of exclusively publishing this blogazine.  I would love to hear from you on how you think the blogazine should grow in 2009!  Share your ideas with me and let's see if Swaggie can make it happen!
