E. Samantha Cheng is a writer, producer and director based in Washington, DC. She has hundreds of broadcast and non-broadcast programs to her credit. She was the managing editor of five book titles for McGraw-Hill Professional. Samantha is very active in the Asian Pacific American community. She has sat on several boards and advisory councils of area non-profit organizations. She created the Asian Pacific American Member of Congress History Project History, an oral history and video biography/documentary series, produced in association with the U.S. Capitol Historical Society.
Most recently, her video biography/documentary short, “Dalip Singh Saund: His Life, His Legacy” has been selected as the feature program of the Sikh Art Film Festival in New York, New York and will premiere on the Red Carpet during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month May 2 in New York. Her video biography, “A Boy from San Jose: Norman Y. Mineta was featured at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery.
Samantha is the Co-Founder of TPS, Inc., a television production services company and Heritage Series, LLC, a company that specializes in interactive educational programs about U.S. history and Amerivision, Inc., a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization that develops programs on U.S. ethnic and minority cultures. She is an active member of the Asian American Journalist Association and Women in Film and Video and is a mentor students and young professionals. Over the years, she has received numerous professional peer awards and citations.
