The Global Voice with Susan Piontekhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/susanpiontekSusan Piontek is bringing you the powerful voices of those individuals who are creating positive changes that resonate locally, nationally and internationally. As Gandhi so wisely said, "We must become the change we want to see in the world." Each week Susan will be interviewing a new guest who will speak of their passion and the actions they are taking to bring about positive changes on our planet. Through the years, Susan has worked as an educator, not-for-profit administrator, Board Member, Fitness Instructor, Voice Over Talent, Life Coach and most proudly a Mom to three wonderful individuals. In all these various capacities, she has come to know and admire people who are making a difference in the world. They often bucked the system and went out on a limb; some may say it was their dissatisfaction with the status quo that compelled them to act. Some call it "true grit", others call it focus and determination; I call it a fire that has been ignited within that speaks of a desire to make a difference. I see visionaries who have turned obstacles into opportunities; gone to places that others may never get to see and filled needs that otherwise might have gone unrecognized. Often in the midst of the seemingly impossible, the dark and chaotic, they have found hope and possibility. With their dogged determination and vision they have created and continued to make positive changes that are leaving a glowing footprint on our planet. The conversations will shed light on stories of real places. They will be illuminating and a cause for celebration. __________________________________________________ Shows will return on Jan 12th 2011.enCopyright Susan Piontek (C/O Blogtalkradio)Sat, 15 Jun 2019 02:30:00 GMTFri, 16 Nov 2012 03:00:00 GMTCultureBlogTalkRadio Feed v2.0https://dasg7xwmldix6.cloudfront.net/hostpics/c8c4ddaa-1ed9-4f82-af7c-acf9204acdf4_susancolor.jpgThe Global Voice with Susan Piontekhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/susanpiontekSusan Piontek is bringing you the powerful voices of those individuals who are creating positive changes that resonate locally, nationally and internationally. It all began over 6 years ago with a request by one of the public schools to provide coats for children who otherwise would have been cold during the long winter months. Two mothers, Rosemary Hanley and Elise Tierney, began their collection and invited others to join them, little did they know their generosity would have far reaching effects. Before they knew it ,the donations had burgeoned and they were setting up a small warehouse in a school. Coats, shoes, hygiene items, book bags( to name a few of the items collected) began to arrive and the “Little Bit Foundation” grew. Today, they are serving over 3,000 children in 13 schools. A personal relationship is built with each of the 13 schools. The faculty, the staff and most importantly the children anticipate the days when the ladies from “The Little Bit Foundation” will be at their school. The children know the volunteers and are excited to see them each week; the feelings are mutual. By fulfilling these children’s most basic needs, the children are able to focus their attention on school and learning. This philosophy has far reaching implications. It helps build a stronger and more trusting community and is a reflection on just how much difference just “a little bit” can make. 01:00:00Susan PionteknoThe Global Voice,Charity,Love,Hope,CommuntiyTHE LITTLE BIT FOUNDATION - This week I will be interviewing the “Little Bit Foundation” a St. Louis based not-for- profit organization that was born out ofThe Global Voice With Susan Piontekhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/susanpiontek/2010/02/25/the-global-voice-with-susan-piontekCulturehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/susanpiontek/2010/02/25/the-global-voice-with-susan-piontek/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/susanpiontek/2010/02/25/the-global-voice-with-susan-piontekThu, 25 Feb 2010 01:00:00 GMTThe Global Voice With Susan PiontekThis week on the “Global Voice” I will be interviewing Tara Barrows, Volunteer and Event Coordinator of the Monarch School in San Diego, California. The Monarch School is a truly unique school model that educates homeless children Grades K-12. It provides them with a challenging academic program and helps restore their hopes and dreams for a better future. The administrators and staff are passionate about what they do and are committed to improving the lives of their students. The Academic Performance and Psycho-social testing outcomes of the students are a testimonial to the success being achieved by the students. The school remains open 51 weeks out of the school year and offers the students meals, snacks, coaching, counseling and sports and arts opportunities. Volunteers make a significant contribution to the school by helping with tutoring, transportation, food distribution and special events. The graduates who go on to attend college continue to have the help and support they need to succeed with their education. The Monarch School offers them scholarship opportunities, tutorial assistance and mentorship. It is a remarkable prototype that currently serves 125 students at a time and touches the lives of between 400 and 500 students each year. They are currently in the process of looking to expand their facility to serve more students.01:00:00Susan PionteknoThe Global Voice,Charity,Love,Hope,CommuntiyThis week on the “Global Voice” I will be interviewing Tara Barrows, Volunteer and Event Coordinator of the Monarch School in San Diego, California.
