Sherryta Freeman was named Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Development in July 2015. In this job, Freeman is responsible for developing holistic progressive programming for student-athletes in academics, leadership, character, mentoring, career development and service; and developing a leadership academy for all student-athletes. She also manages select varsity intercollegiate athletic programs.

Freeman came to Penn from city rival Temple University, where she was a Senior Associate Athletic Director for four years after serving five years as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Affairs at Temple.

As Senior Associate AD at Temple, Freeman oversaw all aspects of the department’s compliance efforts with conference and NCAA rules and regulations. She worked to educate coaches, administrators and student-athletes in regards to new rules and regulations as well as the processing of NCAA and conference waivers on behalf of student-athletes.  Additionally, Freeman also oversaw all student-athlete leadership and life-skill development programming which included the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program, she served as liaison for athletics to academics, and served as the varsity sport administrator for fencing and women’s gymnastics.
