    Divine Proportion in Nature

    Living in the world without insight into the hidden laws of nature is like not knowing the language of the country in which one was born.

    Let's look at the genealogy of honeybees. Like some other insects, tghe males(drones) experience a sort of "virgin birth" where by they are born from unfertilized eggs. The pattern that is established is what maintains the delicate balance of the beehive. In every colony of honeybees there is one special female called the "queen". There are worker bees who are female and are produced by fertilized eggs, and there are drone bees who are male, do not work, and are produced by the queen's unfertilized eggs. Thes bees have only a mother. They have no father. All the females are produced when the queen has mated and so have two parents. Female honeybees usually end up as worker bees, but some are fed with a special substance called royal jelly that makes them grow into queens. These bees will eventually start a new colony when the bees form a swarm and leave their hme in search of a place to build a new nest.
    Let's look at the golden spirals of nature. The spiral is an essential tool innature's palate, has long been regrded as one of the most significant. Look into the sky and the spirals are there, look at the water, look at the wind. Peel off the leacves of a head of lettuce or a cabbage, peer closely at the seeds in a daisy. Spirals are everywhere-some obvious, some less so. From embryos to galaxies, the spiral offers what is perhaps one of nature's most dynamically proportionate messages in that it arises out of the reconciliation of opposites, harmonious and unaligned. It is the middle way, the path of least resistance, never leaning too far in one direction or the other but always finding perfect balance. Many kinds of spirals hve been studied and described in the language of mathematics, the first dating from the days of ancient Egypt. All spirals have in common the fact that they unwrap around a fixed point at a changing distance. In other words they unwind around a point while moving ever farther from the point.

    Great music is in harmony with the universe, restoring order to the phuysical world through its harmony. Music, as a true mirror of character, makes pretense or deception impossible. Looking  at our own African cultural roots we know that music was an important aspect in the life of ancient Africans but we have no idea how that music actually sounded. According to an African music laws, the rhythmic and melodic complesicties were to be avoided because they led to depression and disorder. Music is an echo of divine harmony because the rhythm and melody imitate the movements of heavenly bodies. While the creation of art is always immediate, the experience of music for the listener is directly connected to the creative process of the musician.  Until recent times in which recordings could be made, music in dance, drama, and the spoken word (all of which are often integrated with music)- was perormed, thus there is a more direct conection of the listener in the emotion of the musician. Sounds, whether in the form of noise or music, are the result of vibations. Once an object begins to vibrate, the vibrations cause surrounding molecules of air to also vibrate.
