A Pastor's Heart

What inspired me to make this radio episode was the fact that so many pastors are leaving the ministry.   Why?  Because  David Briggs wrote an article entitled “clergy killers” — congregations where a small group of members are so disruptive that no pastor is able to maintain spiritual leadership for long. 

I know several pastors who left the ministry because of discouragement.  We as the body of Christ must love and care for our pastors.  Did you know that there are certain cults that are praying that the pastors will quit?  Good pastors are the watchmen over the church, the body of Christ.

October is Pastor's appreciation month.  It's time to show your pastor how much you appreciate his/her leadership and care for you.  If you have never done this before, surprise them.  

One more thing, the church is notorious for killing off it's wounded.  Be a restoration center, a healing center. It's time for the church to care for the wounded, be patient with those who don't always do things right and make sure that the words that come out of the pulpit are not opinions but the word of the living God. And don't forget, if you know someone who has devoted his/her live to full time ministry, give them a hug this month and thank them for their service.
