    Healthy Mind, Body and Wallet

Larissa Zimmerman: Financial Fitness Do you really know the connection between a healthy, mind body and wallet?  Connie and I spoke with Larissa Zimmerman from National Financial Fitness on our Talk Show this week.

Larissa provides financial education for individuals and businesses - to help them gain control of their life.  Larissa promotes, and lives, the concept that when you get your mindset right around your financial situation, your health and wealth follows.

I found it interesting that Larissa often receives referrals from Financial Planners - because some people who are seeking financial advise aren’t prepared - and don’t know how to prepare.  Larissa provides the basic (and not so basic) financial management skills.

The main reason that Financial Planners send clients to Larissa is because those client don’t know where they are financially, how much they really have coming in the door, how much they spend, what loans they etc.

Through her training, Larissa is able to help her clients become very clear about their financial position, so that the Financial Planners can help further.

One tool that is used in this training, are ’scenario sheets’.  That track what you think you’re earning and spending and give a lot of clarity.  As a special offer for our listeners, Larissa offered anyone who emails her from National Financial Fitness and mention they were listening to the call and she will send you the Scenario Sheets (and some info on how to use them).

    It’s All About Mindsets!

The training that Larissa provides is based on the principle of FUN!  When Larissa works with clients one of the first question she asks is what’s the similarlity between sex and spending money - needless to say, she receives a number of comical responses, but ultimately the lesson is - they are the two main reasons why relationships break down.

Part of the training that Larissa provides is that managing your money is about your mind - not the numbers on the paper.  Although the training provides education about managing money, right up to Financial Investing - it really works on helping learners develop the right type of mindset.

A great example of creating a mindset to achieve successful financial management, is the mindset around actually generating wealth.  Larissa shared that she often felt that having money was bad or greedy (and I’m sure many of us have a similar feeling) - for her to achieve success, she had to develop a mindset that said ‘wealth is good’.

Another example, is our thoughts on budgetting.  Personally, I like budgeting - I don’t find it limiting, if anything it gives me a level of freedom because I know that the regular household bills are covered.

Larissa provided some wonderfully practical advice on what you can do to start that mindset change.  These are shared in the replay of this weeks show.

I am always amazed at how much of our ‘material success’ can be traced back to how we approach a situation with our minds.  Just goes to show that balancing the mind and body is great thing!

Jenny Leather - Reclaiming Your Power - Balance Mind Body Connection

Jenny Leather is a Melbourne born and bred Mother of 3 - who speaks with passion and authority about reclaiming your power. Connie and I were honored to have her as our Talk Show guest today. Jenny is a successful property investor who found that the old adage "It's easy to make your first million, it's not so easy to keep it" is true.

When Jenny and husband first experienced the generation of money, they handed the management of that money over to someone else. This was not necessarily the best thing to do - and Jenny shared that it was like handing over you power to someone else.

The reason that Jenny feels that we do that, is that we are not sure that we have the capability, experience, skills or confidence to do the right thing ourselves and that this generally happens because of the stories we buy into, from our younger years. (Lot's of symmetry here with Joe Rubino's Self Esteem System).

To put things in perspective, Jenny did share that the times we tend to learn and grow are the 'hard times' - so we do need to experience adversity and be challenged - but it's how much of our power that we allow to be eroded that's important. We asked Jenny to share a couple of very practical tips on how we can Reclaim Our Power today. Here's some of what she shared:
    • Look at your money management techniques. What is your current financial management like? Get a handle on this and learn from.
    • Address your debt! Take your highest interest bearing debt and pay it down. Keep paying it down until it's gone. Then, go to the next highest interest bearing debt and pay that down. Taking control of your debt is a big key to taking our power back.
    • Keep up to date - don't let the paperwork build up. Do all your business paperwork regularly, keep on top of it, pay your taxes. This is incredibly empowering

The biggest message that Jenny shared from all of this was to 'look into your heart about why you want to create wealth'. Are you creating wealth because you want to, or are you doing it because someone else wants you to? To truly reclaim your power, you need to be generating wealth for you!

Jenny also suggested EFT as a great method to reclaim your power and will putting some information on her website JennyLeather.com. I also recommend The Way To Bliss Now as a great resource for EFT and ZPoint.

Reclaiming Your Power is about changing patterns and making sure you are generating wealth because you want to. Jenny had so much to say, enjoy listening to the show.

Achieving balance: Work / Life and within your own business - with Kristen Beireis

What a great blog talk radio show today! We had the pleasure of hosting Kristen Beireis from Coaches Marketing Source and we discussed Work / Life balance - how it can easily get out of balance and some practical techniques for regaining the balance.

While I was listening to Kristen speak, I relived many of my experiences as a younger woman (and not so younger woman) when my life 'got out of balance'. It happens so easily. Kristen gave some great pointers on what to look for as symptons of poor work / life balance:

    1. Inability to sleep Acknowledging that people have different sleep requirements, if you aren't getting enough sleep - if you wake up thinking about 'everything' you need to do, this is an indication that your work / life balance may be out!
    2. There is nothing between work and sleep If all you are doing is working and sleeping - if there is nothing else you do (exercise, recreation, 'nothing'), you're work / life balance is probably out of balance.
    3. Working when you should be doing something else Do you ignore the other things that you should be doing, just to work? If, while you are working, you are thinking - "I should be doing XYZ" - seriously look at the balance in your life.

One of the things that I took from Kristen as part of this discussion was that you need to schedule 'down time' in both your business and personal schedule. It is O.K to do nothing - or plan to do nothing... give yourself permission to do so. Kristen shared that in her business schedule she will block out a few hours where there is nothing planned - and it during this time that her creativity kicks in.

From the business side of things, both Kristen and I noted that many small business owners experience poor balance when they get to a point that they feel they have to do it all themselves. What we mean by that is that a Business Owner will feel that they have to do their own marketing, article writing, website or blog development, personnel management - the whole package - themselves. What ends up happening is that nothing gets done well and the Business Owner takes their eye off of doing the work that is the 'bread and butter' work for the business - the work that really brings the money through the door.

Another thing we noted was the other side of the coin - that when a Business Owner gets busy delivering they stop marketing and promoting. This is not healthy for the business - but understandable if the business owner feels they have to 'do it all'. Unfortunately, when you stop marketing your business - you 'kill' your sales funnel. It isn't unusual for a business to finish up a busy period and find that there is no business to go on with.

Kristen strongly recommends that for a business to achieve balance - the business owner should be outsourcing various tasks. Preferably, they should outsource the tasks that they don't really like. By doing so, you will be freeing yourself up to focus on the important business activities, whilst making sure that the sales funnel grows and your business is even more successful.
