    Outrageously Healthy

Today we had a most interesting chat with Lenore Miller from

    http://stretchyourmindandbody.com/blog/outrageoushealth

Lenore Miller is the founder, host and coach of “Outrageously Healthy”. Her passion is to help as many people as possible live their best life. She launched outrageously healthy with the aim of bringing together tools of the conscious and unconscious mind to help others create the Outrageously Healthy Life they deserve.

Before becoming an online entrepreneur, Lenore started a women's fitness studio where she began noticing a pattern amongst her clients. Lenore says “that these gorgeous women of all shapes and sizes would arrive looking for the solution to their problems. Mostly they would want to lose weight or change shape. However, what they really wanted, was the feeling they thought being a certain weight or shape would give them, they wanted to feel good
    about themselves”.

Outrageously Healthy was borne out of her desire to help as many people as possible live their best life, to stop waiting until they are some version of  'perfect' and to live the life they deserve today and every day.

Outrageously Healthy is all about living a healthy, happy and fulfilled life. It is not about going to a “boot camp” and coming out super fit, being able to run a marathon. Don’t get me wrong – for some people this might be their definition of outrageous health and a goal worth pursuing. Which brings me to the most important point: The journey to feeling great is a very individual one.

The beauty about Lenore’s programme is that she acknowledges this individuality and works with it rather than trying to fit the client to the programme.

Her definition of outrageous health is “excited anticipation” of every day. Physical fitness and weight loss are the result of a mental state, not the other way around. Yes – you read this right – get yourself in the right mental state, and things will start to happen.

The first thing you need to decide is that you don’t want to be where you are at the moment. The next thing is to recognize that we all are living life subject to any number of “rules” we have in our heads. Some of these rules are useful but most of them are not, they are a relic of the past, our childhood and don’t serve us any longer, so we need to release them. The first question you may want to ask yourself is: “Does this rule support me or sabotage me?” Maybe in childhood eating a piece of chocolate made us feel better but this rule is not appropriate now.

Be patient with yourself, once you have made a decision to make changes, get yourself some support. Often the closest people to you are not the best support for your projects for various reasons. Being tough and harsh does not get results – and yet how do we treat ourselves?

Coming back to food and weight loss – think about this: the reasons we use food are engrained into our subconscious. Often it has nothing to do with being hungry. Pay attention to what is happening – you might be eating to avoid doing certain chores – or at least put them off for a while. You may eat lots when you are overtired because your body is craving energy. So the solution is to not get overtired rather than not eating when you feel that way.

There are certain foods you may consider as “bad” – this sets up an emotional “charge” for this food, chocolate being a classic example. This emotional charge has to be taken off. Think about it this way – food in itself is not naughty, bad or anything else – it is just food, fuel for our body. The foods we classify as “bad” or which we are supposedly not allowed to have create a “diet deprivation backlash”. This means once we get imbalanced, stressed  or simply don’t care any more we will have lots of it, to make up for “lost time”. We act purely on our emotions and not because of rational reasoning.

Another area that stops a lot of people from enjoying life to the full is the vicious cycle of chronic pain and tension. It is very difficult not to make pain the focus of your life. It becomes limiting and very restrictive. The first thing again is to increase awareness. We try very hard to shut out the pain instead of working with it and getting to know what it is really like. I have seen so many people who had an injury years ago, medically the injury has healed perfectly, all the tests show nothing – and yet there is chronic pain and tension. It needs a two pronged approach – physical treatment and mental work. There are no quick fixes but the end result is well worth it. Don’t use band aids.

When you wake up in the morning not feeling real good, ask yourself: “Why do I feel bad?” Ask yourself: “What can I do today to feel outrageously healthy?” Your subconscious mind will give you the right answer. It may be sometimes hard to hear that little voice, but it is there somewhere.

Remember: Outrageous Health starts “between our ears” – then we can take care of ourselves. Take time to connect – “if I were living an outrageously healthy life – what would it look like?” Make a list of all the things that would make up your outrageously healthy life. Add lots of sensory details – what would it look like, how would you feel, what would you hear people around you saying, what would it smell like?

Start with one thing you can do for yourself today. Can’t come up with anything? Ask yourself: “If I did know, what would it be?” It could be as simple as drinking 2 glasses of water, having your lunch in the park instead of sitting in the office…..life will start to look different, you will begin to notice changes.

We all deserve to feel and be our best!
