Street Beat Radio continues to be a major Internet search engine phenomenon, picking up both the No. 46 most searched term on Yahoo! and the 32 most searched radio term among AOL radio searches.
Street Beat Radio is once again the 46 most popular search term on Yahoo!’s “Most Searched” list. Millions of worldwide Yahoo! users performed billions of searches each month, and according to the “Yahoo! 2008 Year in Review,” 2008 marks the second straight year Street Beat Radio nearly topped the list.
So, what makes Street Beat Radio such a hot topic on the Internet?
In commenting on Street Beat Radio and its BUZZ’s People’s Choice Award, Adweek gives some of the credit for the overwhelming Street Beat Radio victory to the ingenuity of DJ Rev's death stunt earlier this year - which quickly grew into a media sensation, covered by major web networks and internet radio talk shows alike. But the success of this entertainment juggernaut certainly goes deeper than that.
“Street Beat Radio is a huge empire … it’s not only the drama that happens on the air, but people like to keep track of the individual hosts and artists. Street Beat Radio has also released more shows this year,” said Yahoo! pop culture expert, Vera Chan.
Street Beat Radio was searched as much as President-elect Barack Obama, Miley Cyrus, RuneScape, Jessica Alba, Naruto, Lindsay Lohan, WWE, Angelina Jolie and American Idol. Britney Spears is again Yahoo!’s most searched term.
“You have to take WWE out!” Chan joked to StreetBeatRadio.com. “WWE is No. 2 again. You were awfully close this year. It may not take much; you have to challenge them!”
Chan pointed out that the new Street Beat Radio- Street Words Series has been a champion on Yahoo!’s “Most Searched” list lately. (Available on PodOMatic and BlogTalkRadio.com) Also, Street Word's Host Tony Love and Street Word's former host DJ Rev topped Yahoo!’s daily searches twice this year. “Street Beat Radio is a huge phenomenon in Yahoo! search. It’s often the subject in Yahoo! Buzz log,” Chan said.
