At the risk of sounding like a broken record in a digital age, our focus once again shifts to the slowly simmering, soon-to-be-regional conflict in Syria.
Not only has the West done absolutely nothing to stem the tide of foreign arms and fighters flooding into the beleaguered nation, but the Israelis have now, for at least the third time this year, bombed Syrian territory. This has been construed by the Syrian government as an act of war - and rightly so:
Meanwhile, Iran is seeking the formation of an 'axis' to oppose Western imperialism in the area, and increase its military cooperation with Syria:
All of this is happening on the heels of recent reports of chemical weapons use in the country, something the White House has referred to as a "red line."
Is the next step in this progression a wider, multipartite regional war, or even World War?
