As a small business owner, it is critical to adequately vet and supervise your employees.  It is impossible to micro-manage our employees while at the same time performing our own responsibilities effectively.  Thus, there is an element of trust when it comes to our employees.  We want to hire employees that are trustworthy, reliable and productive, so that the objectives of their jobs can be achieved.  However, the significance of vetting an employee also has legal implications—so that the employer can avoid liability for any wrongs committed by the employees.
