Great job on today's show, Steve. Sorry that I only came for the last 3 minutes. I'm new to this website and it's awesome.

In 2004 my wife and I began seriously studying Internet marketing. We built a small website selling nutritional products -- CactusCanyon.com. We had great success with Cactus Canyon and began developing other online businesses as well. Within a few years we were both able to quit our full-time jobs in education and now work from home! Kay was a special education teacher at the same school I worked at. Although we both enjoyed our jobs, we wanted more control and freedom over our day to day activities and, most of all, we wanted out of the “rat race” – the Internet worked perfectly into the equation. Even from our country home in Oklahoma, we had access to millions of potential customers on the Internet. We had created an enormous opportunity for ourselves! I look forward to helping you get started with your own successful Internet business. My online businesses began with just a dream! What is your dream?

Start A Home Internet Business On A Shoestring Budget.

Those who think starting an Internet business requires investing thousands of dollars in seminars, site and graphic design, advertising, etc. are absolutely on the wrong path. In fact, I will go as far to say that anyone attempting to build a home Internet business who first invests any significant money will more than likely never enjoy success before quitting the venture entirely. This is the part I like best about building an online business at home; great success is possible with very little investment at all. By “very little”, I do mean VERY little. My wife and I began our home business with a hosting account that cost just a few dollars per month, a ten dollar Internet domain name, and a case of products (we were already using in our home anyway) which cost $200. That was it! I learned everything I needed to know about building an Internet business by reading things on the Internet and participating in several online forums. I taught myself how to make web pages and studied a lot about how to optimize. Our home business began making money and we reinvested all the profits into more and more products for the site. We began business with almost no risk whatsoever. In this episode I describe in more detail how we build our home Internet business.

Online Marketing Tips: Managing Your Time and Working With a Plan

Before I quit my job I used to fantasize all the time about all the time I would have to work in my online business when I did quit. I never expected time to be a continuous problem even after I left my 50 hour a week job.

Internet marketers must first go through the growing pains of “finding their niche and methods” online. The sooner that process is complete, the sooner they can get on with the main goal of making money. Having a definite plan of action which can be followed is crucial.

Otherwise the beginning marketer may find him or herself “working hard” all day long everyday and not have anything to show for it. This show offers some pointers for making your online home business more productive and successful.

Building a List vs. Marketing With Sales Pages Alone

Is building a list really that important for new marketers to spend their time on? I know there are a million-and-one things a marketer must learn in the beginning, but where does (or should) list building fit in? Too many would-be marketers drop that ball early in their career by not taking the time to build a list. They simply do not understand the power and importance of a list. I see many of them trying to sell an eBook or other info product from a simple sales page. They tell me they get no traffic. I ask them for the URL to their main site and they all too often do not have one. Using a core site (and or squeeze pages if possible) to generate and build a large list of leads is crucial to the success of an online business. The sooner a new marketer can change his mindset from “making sales” to “generating a list of leads”, the sooner success will come.
