Follow these 4 golden rules for keyword research. First, how relevant is your chosen keyword? It’s possible to choose keywords and attract plenty of traffic, but if those keywords are not relevant to the targeted audience, visitors will simply hit the back button. Next, will the keywords generate enough traffic? Ranking #1 for a keyword that does not get enough traffic is a wasted effort. Along those lines, how much competition is there for that keyword? Sure, some keywords get a LOT of traffic, but they also have a lot of competition. It might be impossible to rank your page well if the competition is too great. Lastly, how commercial are the keywords? In other words, will those keywords attract buyers or clickers to your site or will they only attract tire kickers or info seekers? This show covers all these areas and more of how to conduct profitable keyword research.
