Time to start rolling up the sleeves and begin digging into the muck and mire. The norms in society, and the use and abuse of labels that miscategorize and perpetuate racism will be discussed. The concept of "race" will be looked at and how contempory anthropologists view the concept today. The show will also have two special guests, who belong to the ethnic group historically known as Black Indians, to discuss their unique heritage and the historical and societal factors concerning them. Actor Sha'ahn Williams is one of the lucky ones who has traced, and is documented as of Native ancestry as a Nottoway Indian. They are based in Surry County, Va. She traces her family tree back to the 1500s and will share with us. Stephen Wilson Jr. is also very aware of his Native roots which originated on a plantation in North Carolina where African and Natives married. He is also a very active cultural activist using the arts to create change.
