The November 9th edition of the Encouragement Group, features David Gerber, Director of Counseling/Shelter Services at St. Christopher’s Inn discussing the concept of the “Courage to be Impurfict.” David draws the parallel between the progressive lifestyle of addiction and that of an Olympic skater, drawing upon the similarities, and focuses on how alcoholics and addicts can be perfectionistic, staying engaged in the lifestyle of use due to perfectionism. Finally, David shares how having the “courage to be impurfict” opens up a vulnerability necessary if recovery is to take hold, and encourages the group to have to demonstrate this courage. Miracles will be shared.
