Imam W. Deen Mohammed Classic Speech

Warith Deen was born Wallace D. Mohammed, the seventh child of the Hon. Elijah Mohammed & Sister Clara Mohammed.

 

Imam W. Deen Mohammed established direct & genuine interfaith dialogue between leaders of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and many other faith traditions.

 

In early 1988, he represented Muslims at the World Parliament of Religious Leaders for survival of the earth and its environment in Oxford, England. He represented Muslims in America at the symbolic signing of the First Amendment Chapter for Religious Freedom held in Williamsburg, Virginia, also in 1988.

 

In January 1998 Imam Mohammed, as the guest of Senator Glenn Howard met with then Indiana Governor Frank O’Bannon, spoke before the Indiana House of Representatives and delivered the invocation for the Indiana Senate.

 

In October 1999 Imam Mohammed was chosen by Pope/St. John Paul II to represent Islam at the Interfaith Conference on the Eve of the New Millennium at St. Peter Basilica in Rome, Italy.

 

At the time of his passing Imam W. Deen Mohammed was recognized worldwide as a torchbearer for peace, reconciliation and unity of the human family.
