    My Guest This Week!

JUDY JOY JONES "I became a freelance photojournalist to shed light on the plight of the poor dying on streets in rapidly increasing numbers all over the earth. My photographs and words are simply my small part in joining hearts and hands with all peoples in helping make homelessness, history." ---Judy Joy Jones; Artist Judy Jones is an artist, photographer, poet, and librettist; having won "Brava for Women in Arts" contest with an opera libretto based on the life of the artist Frida Kahlo. She wrote for the Coronado Journal Newspaper as she traveled around the world doing volunteer work with Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charities. Her photographs and paintings manifest a deep love and compassion for humanity and are shown worldwide. While the stark black and white photographs of the homeless, from her book "Bones ofthe Homeless" are (as Borders says of her poetry) "urgent, lively, and often haunting," her paintings such as the Janis Joplin and Mother Teresa portrait are full of emotion, color and movement, delving into the spirit, and the human experience of her subject. Bones for the Homeless and Ode to Janis Joplin, Judy's spoken word/music CD, was recorded by Curtis Ohlson, Ray Charles bass player and is for sale at Amazon.com; Cody's Books, Moes Books, Berkeley and Amoeba Records both in San Francisco's Haight/Ashbury area and on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, California. The Street Spirit newspaper in Berkeley publishes her poems regularly and her homeless photographs have been published around the world including England's The Big Issue magazine and are hanging in the San Francisco Night Ministry and have been in the San Francisco Coalition for the Homeless.
