Courts, attorneys, and social service and treatment providers are aware of the established link between the child welfare and juvenile justice system. Often the former serves as a gateway to the latter or the child welfare system is used as a means of providing services to delinquent youths. This show will discuss this link, including an overview of the research and data and the effects of multisystem involvement on systems, families, and service providers. Strategies to improve outcomes for youth such as enhanced systems coordination and integration and prevention will be explored. Guest: Linda Spears, Vice President, Policy and Public Affairs, Child Welfare League of America
