    NHL Playoffs

    The National Hockey League 2008-09 playoffs are well underway, so thats recap:

    In the Western Conference: 

    The Vancouver Canucks were the first team to advance to the second round, as they swept the St. Louis Blues 4 games to 0.

    The defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings fought hard against the Columbus Blue Jackets and came out on top to win the series, 4 games to 0.

    The Anaheim Ducks are trying to pull off the upset and take out the number one seed, San Jose Sharks in game four action tonight. The Ducks currently lead the series, 2 games to 1.

    Its a hard fought battle between the Calgary Flames and the Chicago Blackhawks as the Flames came back to tie the series last night, 2 games to 2.


    In the Eastern Conference:

    The Boston Bruins easily unseated the Montreal Canadians, sweeping the habs and moving on to the second round, 4 games to 0.

    The Philadelphia Flyers escaped elimination, but are still hanging by a thread against the Pitsburgh Penguins. Pitsburgh leads the series 3 games to 2.

    The New Jersey Devils and their dynamite goaltender, Martin Brodeur, got the win they needed to lead their series against the Carolina Hurricanes, and Brodeur tied Patrick Roy with his 23rd playoff shut out. The New Jersey Devils now lead the series, 3 games to 2.

    The New York Rangers are looking to closeout their series against Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals Friday night. The Rangers lead the series, 3 games to 1.
