    What I learned.........

On Thursday, I completed my first episode of Sports Talk w/ Toni. I learned that having a passion for sports and talking about it on live radio are two very different things. Was Thursday's show my best work? Heck, Thursday's show was the only real work I've ever done on live radio. I am a fighter and educator. For me, evaluation is a very important part of the learning process. Today, I share what I learned from this first exprience. For those who listen, I hope it helps you. As for me, I'm on my way to get back on the horse. Give the first show a listen. There are some dead air spaces, but Mr. Washington's interview was very good--when he and I got started.

    Rudy Washington Interview

Rudy Washington is no stranger to athletics. In addition to serving on numerous NCAA committees, Mr. Washington has served as Drake University's Head Men's Basketball Coach, Assistant Coach to Clemson and the University of Iowa Men's Basketball programs respectively. To address the disproportionate opportunities afforded to African-American coaches, Rudy founded the Black Coaches Association. During his tenure, the hiring of Black coaches increased from 16 to 106. In the capacity of SWAC Commissioner, Mr. Washington created the football championship game and relocated the SWAC Headquarters to Birmingham, AL. Rudy sat down with Sports Talk to discuss the hiring of Black coaches since leaving BCA, Men's Basketball and candid discussion regarding today's Black athlete and how they can avoid the numerous pitfalls reported weekly on the various sports media outlets.
