Topic: Bayard Rustin's Vision Behind the MLK Dream March
Bayard Rustin was the architect of the Non-Violent Direct Action tactics of the Civil Rights Movement in America and the engineer of the famous March on Washington. Bayard Rustin taught Dr. King, Dr. Abernathe and the rest of SCLC nonviolent direct action strategies, and he played the central role in organizing the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Rustin was kept in the background as some organizers considered him a liability because he was openly gay.
Today, we look at the Vision Behind the Dream Dr. King spoke about and we ask this question:
What is the difference between A DREAM, AVISION, AND AN ACT OF CREATION?
We ask this in the context of remembering the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
I believe a dream hovers, a vision focuses, and an act of creation brings the thing into reality.
