With a background in corporate finance and senior management in both the communications and entertainment industries, Don Schmeichel (Producer, Exec Producer), brings a unique blend of creative passion and fiduciary diligence to every project. Don's unwavering intent is to make great movies that are measured for their artistic excellence and fiscal viability. His love for a good story is surpassed only by his love for good business.
Pivotal in Don's career was his work as Chief Financial Officer for Optix Digital Pictures in Toronto, Canada; Hamburg, Germany, as well as The Posthouse Ltd in Wellington, New Zealand, the company that was responsible for all Digital Intermediary work on The Lord of the Rings, Return of the King. Don also served as Post-Production Executive Producer on the Emmy nominated, PBS / Sony Pictures property, It's a Big Big World, produced in New York in 2006.
Don's keen understanding of online markets and digital content distribution led him to a consultancy role in early 2007, where he acted as Interim CEO and Executive Producer with the GTG Media Group, a U.S. company that produces original content for episodic television. During his executive role with GTG, he initiated acquisition of additional entertainment properties and encouraged the transition to exclusively distribute truncated program segments online with full monetization of the company's video content.
Don's financial background is extensive. He has over ten years experience in corporate finance environments, including acquisitions, institutional debt, private equity financings, valuations and managerial finance.
Don's rare combination of fiscal diligence and storytelling passion is the driving force behind Nervous World Film's approach on every project.
