Call in to speak with the host

Karen is currently serving as President and Executive Director of Autism Empowerment, founded in June 2011.

Karen considers Autism Empowerment her calling and passion. She is the proud mom to two sons (5 and 12) diagnosed with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome respectively. It wasn't long after her sons were diagnosed in 2008 that she came to the realization that she had been living over 40 years as an undiagnosed woman with Asperger's. A diagnosis later confirmed her suspicions and brought relief.

Karen has over 13 years experience in operations, sales and start-up ventures as founder and co-owner of a successful online retail business, Count Your Beans Dolls, Bears & Collectibles. She has extensive experience with online auctioning, sales, marketing, customer service, blogging and social media.

Karen coined the Autism Empowerment motto, Accept, Enrich, Inspire, Empower ™. She is dedicated toward helping to assist children and adults on the autism spectrum in their journey on the road less traveled to reach their highest potential. Her personal blog, Aspierations (Aspie-rations) - Come As You Are, Let Your Light Shine is dedicated to promoting acceptance and empowerment for those with autism spectrum disorders and the family and friends who love them.

In addition to working with Autism Empowerment, Karen enjoys mysteries, writing and volunteering in her youngest son's Kindergarten classroom. She is also the Committee Chair for Cub Scout Pack 2, Vancouver and Washington state's first Sensory-Friendly Cub Scout program.
