SpectaLIVE #102: "Buffoonery VS. Coonery" Which one is MORE detrimental to Our Survival? Welcome fellow stewards of intellectually stimulating conversation, to yet another tantalizing two hours of REAL talk from the perspective of REAL people and not political talking points, The SPECTA LIVE Show!!! I started this discussion briefly last week and received many spirited comments relating to the argument, so... I decided to talk more about this controversial tid-bit that has historically rattled the Black community to its core beliefs!!! Buffoonery VS. Coonery, volume one of one MILLION I suppose, because this argument I fear may have no foreseeable end. What is "Buffonery" and/or "Coonery" anyway? Aren't they the same thing? Well, for this arguments sake, they shall be the difference between the likes of Jesse Jackson and that of Bill Cosby simply put. A "Buffoon" will do whatever it takes, and/or support any cause, no matter its validity, integrity, legality or dignity level in the belief that he is representing his people from a well and prosperous perspective and is typically of the mindset that the major malfunction with his people is a result of circumstance more so than a lack of ANY personal responsibility. A "Coon" shall sacrifice the character and potentially the culture of his own community in the face of others outside of his community simply to gain acceptance from those he believes potentially "better" than his own. A Coon will likely point out many faults within his own community without compromise or regard for ANY outside circumstance. Two extremes, both potentially harmful. Which describes you? SpectaLIVE #101: "What the Perceived American Dream IS NOT: Dispelling myths, rumors and the destructive mindset of today's American youth" The fabled, "American Dream"... for many Americans, this idealistic sentiment has very little REAL meaning with today's economic hardships baring down on our well being. House, car, 2.5 kids and a white picket fence... Yea, maybe 35 years ago. However, today's younger American generations expect MORE, BIGGER and a noticeably FASTER means to a great American end... but at what cost? The forefathers of our cause preached education and perseverance... has this path to excellence become obsolete in an era where education takes too long, and perseverance includes struggle and hardship instead of instantaneous gratification? I believe so. But where's the problem with finding success EARLIER versus finding it later in life? Methodology my friends... If your means to an end sacrifices the end for today, then you have not found true achievement at all, only temporary gratification with the perception of success... a mindset I believe capable of ultimately destroying a people from the ground up. Let's get back to basics people! ReSpec #78: "What's GOOD with the Welfare State?" Is there a well intentioned but inherantly needy welfare CLASS that exists among us? Ok, there is always room to talk about why American welfare is a bad place to be... but have you ever considered that an actual CLASS of welfare and handout recipients has developed out of long term family reliance on the system? Is this a GOOD thing? Perhaps, let's discuss it shall we? A ReSpec WORTH hearing again!!!
