    Speak Freely Coffee Show

Well, I just realized the I didn't get to tell you the dirty coffee secrets I talk about in the title of the show. So here are a few notes to go with the coffee segment.

The fewer arabica beans in your coffee the lesser the quality. Many famous brands of coffee are skimping on the quality beans to save money so beware.

The roast is either light or dark, French or not.  If you want a full bodied taste pick French if you want a milder brew light, the difference between Starbucks and Dunkn Donunts roasting styles.

For a comparison between Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and McDonald's check out Consumer Reports.

"Chock Full’o'Nuts makes a great New York Decaf, Maxwell House make nothing but crap, and though we enjoy the product from Seattle’s Best a good deal, it’s owned by Starbucks which sours some of the taste (come on, number 1 and number 2 under the same umbrella? Weak stuff)..."

    Hypermilers and Gas Saving Tips

    Save Gas, Save a Country

Hypermilers are obsessed drivers with too much time on their hands who save fuel by, here is the list I promised on the show today:

    1. Planning shopping trips to coincide with meetings, visits to grandma and other stops

    2. Leaving at least 2 car lengths between you and the car in front of you. He’s probably    on drugs anyway and plans to kill you. Stay away.

    3. Driving at the speed limit or less, 55 is ideal

    4. Coasting as often as you can

As you approach a red stop light

                Turning into a parking space

                Practicing your ninja skills

    5. Don’t wait in line outside a fast food place idling

Idling bad:-( park the car and go in

    Obama, Obama

The Obama Campaign defends itself from republican attacks by starting a web site. The general election is now in full swing. Let’s make the answers on the Obama web site to the absurd republican lies go viral.  Go on to the website fightthesmears.com and send the answers to your friends and family and keep talking to them about the need for democratic ideals to prevail in November. This is how you can push back when the republican smear machine starts rolling into your neighborhood.

Next, let's start answering the ridiculous statement "he's not like us." I wll begin talking about that on the next show.

Send your thoughts and ideas I'd love to hear from you.

    Cocktails for Two

    Cocktails for Two

    Saturday 05/17/08

    4:00pm

Cocktails came into their hay day in the United States during the 20s and 30s when first alcohol was prohibited and then when alcohol was scarce.

The American entrepreneurs or bootleggers began adding juices and bitters to the alcohol they were serving illegally. The precious alcohol was mixed with medicinal tonics for example, to add a kick to the drink.

One of the most famous tonics is called Angostura Aromatic Bitters. This tonic was developed by a German doctor, there always seems to be a German doctor involved in these kinds of things. He was in Venezuela and board. So he concocted a tonic for anything and everything that allies you. You will most likely find a bottle behind your friendly neighborhood bar.

But enough cocktail history lets think cool summer drink. I found an excellent recipe for a summer day called Sweet Summer Days, how convenient.

    1 ½  oz vodka

    ¾ oz Bacardi Apple Rum

    ¼  lemon juice fresh, please

Garnish with a green apple of lemon wedge

    That does sound yummy.

Normally I’m a purest but once in awhile a flavored run is allowed.

In honor of Abby the cat I offer a cocktail called Hello Kitty:

    2 parts TYKU

    1 part vodka

    1 fresh lemon

TYKU Sake & Asian vodka based liqueur made from 20 natural fruits & botanicals

    Cheers
