James Reed, Da Black Chinese, was born the 23 day of June, in the year of 1975, from Whistler, AL. He started doing music in the year of 1986 at K.J. Clark Middle School as a beat boxer for The Funky Fresh D’s where he was called D.A.R.Y.L D., and it stood for ‘Doin All Rymes Y’all Love’ even though he wasn’t a rapper. After that came a long life of opportunities in the music industry. He formed his own group in the year 1989 with his brother Tavaris Reed, also known as CLC, called The Mental Affluenced Posse (M.A.P.), and they hit Mobile, AL by storm. He was the first artist in the city that actually was recognized as a rapper with a DJ in Mobile. It came to thought of producing music at one time and he actually started producing in 1991 starting with his cousin Keno Valentino. He graduated from C.F. Vigor High school in the year of 1993, and upon graduation he owned his own label called Maja Leegue Records. It was funny how he got his name, his brother told him he looked like a black Chinese, so he changed his name to Da Black Chinese and he was known by that name since 1993. He’s been signed to labels such as Spin Records, Cutthroat Records, and now he’s back and signed to the label Maja Leegue Records where he’s making a mark in the music industry. He’s performed in many talent shows and competitions in his time of doing music.
