April 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm - Exposition with Valerie Thomas and Mike Thompson featuring Marlene Gruetter who focuses on fashionable wearables and creates unique felt garments under the name ShambolicÒ. Marlene is a traditional felt maker and uses fine merino wool and upcycled silk garments to create a new fabric. The process of making the new fabric involves applying fine merino wool fiber onto silk garments and with the elements of water, soap and friction (hand rubbing and rolling) resulting in a new fabric as the wool migrates through the weave of the fabric. Marlene’s work has been on display at various art venues in the United States and she has published articles about her ShambolicÒ wearables nationally and internationally. Her ShambolicÒ wearables have also received distinguished awards at competitions and runway shows.
