Edd J. Hayes is the publisher and archivist of Black College Sports History & Legends Archives, an online repository of the achievements of historical Black college sports leaders, players, coaches, supporters and memorable milestones. From 1984 to 1996, he published Edd Hayes Black College Sports Reports, a weekly newsletter that covered the major sports of the historically Black Colleges and Universities:

Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) NAIA (District 29, etc) Southeastern Athletic Conference (SEAC) and the NCAA Division I-AA Independent programs.
