    Original Air Date:

Laura Duksta | Author of the Deeply Inspiring Book, 'I Love You More'

At 3pm EST, we'll be joined by author, speaker and visionary Laura Duksta. The first thing most people notice about Laura is her head. At the age of 11, she lost all of her hair to a 'disease' called Alopecia Areata, a condition that affects about 5 million people in America. It's not been an easy journey, though it's one for which she is eternally grateful. After 19 long years of wearing wigs she finally learned the biggest lesson: the ability to love herself. After all that's what we're here for, right? To love and be loved. That's the message of her first book, 'I Love You More.' It captures the power and magic of unconditional love shared between a mother and child.

  • Original Air Date:

Marie Howe | Winning Poet of the National Endowment for the Arts and Guggenheim Fellowships

At 3pm EST, we'll be joined by award-winning poet, Marie Howe. 'Marie Howe's poetry doesn't fool around,' said Margaret Atwood about Howe's first collection, 'The Good Thief,' which received a National Poetry Series award in 1989. Howe's second book, 'What the Living Do,' is largely an elegy to her brother John, who died of AIDS in 1989. In addition to the feelings of loss that many of her poems reveal, hope and an appreciation of life are also important themes. Among her many honors, Howe has received the National Endowment for the Arts and Guggenheim fellowships. She teaches creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College, Columbia, and New York University.

  • Original Air Date:

Darren Littlejohn | Discover the Buddhist Approach to the 12-Step Program

At 3pm EST, we'll be joined by Darren Littlejohn, author of 'The 12-Step Buddhist.' Darren is a recovering addict and a practitioner of Zen and Tibetan Buddhism, as well as a former mental health specialist. He has been a Buddhist practitioner since the mid '80s. A spiritual crisis led to a relapse in 1994 with 10 years of sobriety. After regaining sobriety in 1997, Darren worked on recovery with a new zeal, incorporating many years of psychotherapy, 12-Step work, Zen, and Tibetan Buddhist practices. Darren’s program, which became the basis for the book 'The12-Step Buddhist,' is an integrated approach that is hard won over a span of more than twenty years.

  • Original Air Date:

Eddie Munster | This Halloween, Meet Your Favorite Little Monster

At 3pm EST this Halloween, we'll be joined by special guest, Butch Patrick, also known as Eddie Munster from the hugely popular TV series, 'The Munsters.' Also joining the show will be author Jeffrey Hickey, who is known for his spooky stories for children ('Bats and Bones'), and for his most recent novel, 'Coach's Son.' You'll get to listen in as they discuss what Halloween means to them, and how the Munsters used to celebrate. Find out just what Eddie Munster does on Halloween!

  • Original Air Date:

Clarke Buehling | Meet the Lively Leader of the Internationally Renowned Band, The SkirtLifters

Joining the show at 3pm EST is musician Clarke Buehling who has led the group, The SkirtLifters for over twenty years. An internationally renowned group of performers celebrated for their outstanding skills and showmanship onstage, The SkirtLifters have authentically recreated the music of the 19th century riverboat, stage and parlor, enlivened by period humor, skits, songs and percussive dance. Clarke is unmatched in his mastery of the three-fingered 'classic' banjo style of the late 19th century and has applied his equally strong skills in traditional claw hammer and old-time styles as a workshop presenter at leading folk-schools around the country. At 3:50, you'll meet Stan Goldberg, author of 'Lessons for the Living,' a remarkable book that contains stories of forgiveness, gratitude and courage at the end of life. Stan is a Professor Emeritus of Communicative Disorders at San Francisco State University. For over 25 years he has taught, provided therapy, researched, and published in the area of learning problems and change. In 2009 he was named by the Hospice Volunteer Association as 'Volunteer of the Year.'

  • Original Air Date:

Paul Mullen | Listen in to Creepy Excerpts from Author Paul Mullen's Newest Release

At 3pm EST, just a few days before Halloween, you'll hear an interview with author Paul Mullen in which he shares some creepy excerpts from his newest book. Paul received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology and went on to earn an MBA. While on sabbatical at Indiana University and attending his summer internship for his doctorate’s degree in business management, he received a vision believing God had a more important mission for him, and so he wrote 'Some Things I Have Learned Along the Way,' a self-help guide. Eventually Paul felt called to teach struggling eighth-grade readers in Florida where he discovered his true calling as a writer and educator. In 2007, 'The Day I Hit a Home Run at Great American Ball Park' was published and Paul is currently touring the mid-west promoting health and family literacy and teaching students how to become more effective readers.

  • Original Air Date:
