Regarding her own journey and struggle with these issues, Rev. Bowens says "After resolving my crisis around these issues, I felt a clear sense of call to the ministry...".  When asked about what drives her in her ministry, she said, "I have a deep passion around the injuries inflicted on this population in mainstream churches; and proclaiming the good news to them that we are not despised and rejected by God.  We can live and love as the people we were created to be; and we can do so in peaceful personal relationship with God. The rest of my life is devoted to that ministry".
