Finally, based on my limited observations since being in this country, I think most black American women of my generation want the fiscal benefits of marriage without having to put in any of the work on the wifely part of things.

The young 19-year-old girl (Peaches?) who called in failed to realize/accept that she is part of a breed on the verge of extinction.... It's a blessing that she's aware of what's going on in the black relationship arena, but it's a shame that she's so isolated since women who share her mindset are so rare.

I think most black American women have zero notion as to how to keep a man, and having an open heart-to-heart discussion with them will NOT change anything because they'll take a man's compassion and understanding for weakness.

Wish I'd listened to this one live too! I could have explained that there are 18 different styles of loving, and often our styles don't match. When they don't, no matter how much a guy feels he is doing or a woman is "good", if the other person doesn't FEEL loved the way they need to be, they can easily leave the relationship.
