Soul City Radio

Soul City is where those weary travelers in search of good music find there home. Where the essence of Soul lives. When you see that ominous glow off in the horizon, you know you're there. Here at Soul City it is our goal to be the voice of the Indie artist. Whether you are a Hip Hop, Soul, Neo - Soul, R&B or Jazz, if you are amongst the masses that create music because you have love for it, you have a station willing, ready and able to let your sound be heard. This is where up and coming artists can get their sound out to the masses. We are rededicating ourselves to you. From this moment on, we will no longer play mainstream music, unless you make it mainstream! We are 100% invested in the indie artists of all kinds, from visual to musical. Every month we feature some of the best independent artists around. As of November 1st, Soul City Radio will be broadcasting solely on Sunday. All of the shows will be consolidated into that day, in hopes that you don't turn the dial. We continually strive to bring you a quality alternative to mainstream media. Please, forward any recorded music you may have, as well as a bio to soulcityradio@gmail.com so that we may get it into the rotation as soon as possible. Allow us to help you :)

In The Studio: DC based Soul Singer Colie Williams

Every now and then a fresh new artist emerges from obscurity. Colie Williams is that artist-bringing her brand of music-Holistik Soul to the masses. Born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y., Williams recalls always having a stronger connection to legends such as Nat King Cole, Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sade to name a few. Since majoring in vocal studies at Music and Arts High School and attending the musical theatre program at Syracuse University, Ms. Williamshas been performing with local bands in the D.C area, appearing in and touring with professional theatre productions, as well as educating Early Childhood Level students in local schools. Her new CD entitled Holistik Soul: The Experience embodies that which comes together to create a balance of spirit, melody and rhythms. Co-written with producers The Crank Bros., her songs will permeate the soul like a morning full of joy, after a long, lonely night season. Holistik Soul is sure to be a breath of fresh air to the urban adult contemporary music scene. As Williams reaches back to call upon the classic styles of Ella, Sarah and Billy to inspire her music, her message reaches forward towards todays audiences:remember in the end all we really have that can save us is the ability to love ourselves and one another. Colie Williams will cause you to remember something that youll never want to forget.

Soul City Radio features Nik Solomon

About Nik Solomon: Life chooses what someone does…who they will be…what he, or she, will become. It doesn’t really matter if one is cool with whatever Life is serving, because Life will always create circumstances that support its sole purpose and intention - to support the Living. All I do know is that I love song, word, and to see…to feel…to Be. I’d rather let the work speak for itself…it’s all about content – what’s inside the cup, because that is what determines its shelf life in people’s hearts and minds. The work…the art…has become important again. It’s getting back to the Soul, to great music that is fresh, inspiring, and accessible. It’s easy to portray an image that is detached from the people who are listening to our music, attending our shows or buying our merchandise - and to be fair, the industry has consciously promoted it. However, much has changed and will continue to change; and the days of being enshrouded in mystery are long over. The true power of music is its ability to bring people together, the artist acting as a facilitator of the celebrations, rituals and rites of passages.
