Shay Miller was born and raised in St. Louis Mo. She started studying Art at the age of 10, at Shaw Visual Performing Arts Center. She attended Humboldt Middle School where she studied Fine Arts for three years. Upon leaving Humboldt Middle, she moved on to Central Visual / Performing Arts High School where she majored in Fine Art such as drawing, painting, jewelry making, pottery and more, graduating in 1992.

Shay Miller continued her studies in Fine Arts at Bethany College in Kansas for a year. She then transferred to Columbia College, Chicago where she majored in Fine Arts and Computer Animation. She graduated from Columbia College in 1997 with a BA in Fine Arts.

After graduating, Shay Miller taught Art class for United Church of Christ sleep away camp and Catholic Charities After School Program for abused and low income children. She now teaches in the University City School District and continues to create her art work via contract work.
