Sharing Wisdom::Impatience can easily lead to unhappiness because the focus is on what we do not have. Instead, let’s appreciate what we do have, continue to work for what we want, and believe that we will eventually get what we desire or possibly something even better. That’s practicing patience.

    The Art of Conversation, etc

Photobucket SORRY! Time change should have been ELEVEN PM. Will shorten show a bit due to medical issues and throat. SO please call to see if my new headset works or join the chat. If throat gives out, will play an extra song. :) Ok, talking is something we have all done since we were small children. In this day of over stimulated media, and busy lives, folks feel they just need to be ON THE GO talking to somebody else at another location. Folks overly attached to their computers, games, cells, texting (Aargh!) cell phone chats to other people while out to dinner with friends. How rude! Learn to live in the PRESENT. Call me old-fashioned, I still enjoy the art of simple conversation. Eye to eye. Just hanging around with a friend, or if on the phone, with somebody who won't be on a second phone line,or emailing while SPEAKING TO ME. Be here now, folks. Stop the multi-tasking and practice a little zen. Give your full attention to conversation. Let's talk about whats on your mind. Thankfully, I have found it does still exist here on BlogTalkRadio and that is a great thing. Stop in, I might have a dumb or annoying story of the day, or a little kvetching. But I ALWAYS find the laughter in everything. EDITED: to add an offbeat radio bit of a former radio personality of 30 years!! Gotta hear it to believe it. :) Please register for chat but if I am talking to you on the phone, my focus will be on you and I'll check the chat during a song break. I want to give you my full attention in email, chat or on the phone.

    Daytime Sophia Spins Music Country

Well, I guess this is older country. Not really into the homogenized pop stuff or any country music anymore but this is some good work. I can NOT remember the last time I listened to FM station except classical music. I will feature Guy Clark, and Pam Gadd's music. If you are not familiar with Guy Clark's name, I bet you have heard his tunes. I will play cuts from his 'Better Days' CD which was once a vinyl LP I had from early 80's. Pam Gadd grew up about 2 hours from me and I used to hear her play locally in the late 80's. If you are not familiar with her stuff, do a search on both she and Guy Clark. I can just play FM DJ without all the interruptions. But I WILL tell you the names of the songs after I play a batch. So turn up the stereo and listen to music that might be NEW to you as you work on the computer or around the house. Another 'Sophia testing her new downloads/uploads' but with less chatter. EDITED: Couple of Cajun songs by home made tape of Lagniappe, a Cajun/Gypsy/Dixieland band of the tristate area.

Things to help moods? How do you reach inside yourself

Whether you are married or single, wondering when Mr/Ms Right, or right now, is going to knock on your door looking for you (since some of us don't get around much anymore) how do you cope with different life stresses and improve your mood. Especially if you have the blues. Food, funny shows/movies? Music? Adult beverages (don't over do it, be kind to your liver) Have a favorite old movie on DVD you like or tv show on DVD you can count on to help a funky place? Music that helps you snap out of it? Funny friends? I listen only to one local live band when they play in my area a couple times a month. Play around SW Ohio, No Ky and SE Indy. Lagniappe. This is just a one song (I came in late with the Flip Video--hit wrong button, and we were testing it out on a new song the band was playing) The song is "Fidgety Feet" and can be found on you tube where they let you choose HIGHER QUALITY video which is cool. This kind of music just breathes life into me. :) What music does that FOR YOU? Funny cartoons? Bizarro is one of my favorites. If you have never seen a Tex Avery cartoon, borrow from the library or rent one. Ahead of his time. Google his name...he was an amazing creative brain. Oh and comfort food helps, of course. chocolate in some variation. Keep a sense of humor! No matter how cynical it may be.

Kitchen tips, yapping, and a song or two

I will open with a short tune, about 3 minutes. If you hear me talking, call in. This day I am going to share some time saving cooking and baking tips for busy moms, or those who live alone or have health issues, and need to limit cooking or baking time in kitchen. Find out how to make some foods from scratch in an easy manner without being stuck in the kitchen for a long time. Some of these friends shared with me, one from a friend who is in a wheelchair part time and learned some short cuts. Also will probably have a topical comment and a tune or two. I need the music to help my voice so late in the day. Have a cooking tip? Call me! Also the show is expanding to 45 minutes..a song, some chat, a song and more chatting. For one, I need music to check the chat room if folks are there, I can not talk and type and read... :) On my profile is an email address where you can email or share tips ahead of time if you can't listen LIVE. Thanks for stopping in.

Half Past Sophia in 3/4 time Music testing

Ok, I need to figure out how to FIND my music on this tiny cramped switchboard. So I am going to play some new stuff uploaded from an old home made, live recording by a couple of local bands. The volumes needed to be adjusted after this broadcast so I apologize if you were screaming over not hearing me and music too loud in parts, or vice versa. Hey, it's called LIVE Radio like in the olden days. I will just talk a little to introduce each song and who it's being sung by, maybe. (NOTE: I forgot to mention the band NAME playing "Dueling Banjos". Rainmaker, popular in the late 70's and and the entire 80's..now long broken up. The other band I did not mention by name but run a blog and help manage a website. The reason I do not mention them by NAME is there have been band changes since the recording, and they are not familiar with blogtalkradio. So if given an update, shall list their names. They are not even aware I started this talk -with a little music gig. If you drop by I hope you enjoy the music. I also recently added some Sylvia Bennett podcasts and will feature her lovely, classic ballads in the coming weeks.

Handy tips for around the house, chat and a tune or two.

Are you a woman or a guy that is not handy around the house? Well, I can't tell you how to change a faucet but will give you some tips to keep you sane until a drippy faucet gets fixes, or how to easily fill small holes in a wall if your wall photos were hung too high and needed to be moved. Also how to keep some photos hanging straight. All this and maybe a song, or whatever is on folk's mind on this date. PLEASE PRE-register so you can listen and get a name for the Chat room. Hope to see you there.
