Sony Live from PMA…It’s Live View, a Full Frame CMOS Sensor and More

Just concluded Sony’s PMA show-opening press conference where the big news focused on the debut of the first 24.6 megapixel, full frame size CMOS image sensor, which will be utilized in our flagship Alpha DSLR model that will come to market later this year. (You should see all the shutterbugs mobbing the flagship display.)

In addition, we unveiled the latest models in the DSLR line: the Alpha 300 and 350 models – both featuring the unique combination of quick AF live view for rapid framing and shooting (use two sensors), along with a 2.7-inch variable-angle LCD monitor for high- and low-position shooting. Given their features, they are very attractively priced. They offer 10.2 and 14.2 megapixel resolution, respectively.

Also making their debut were nine new cameras in the Cyber-shot point-and-shoot line with “smart” features like “smile shutter” that waits for even the crabbiest kid to grin before automatically snapping, intelligent scene recognition to automatically help find just the right scene mode, and child or adult prioritization so you can get the best shot of the person you really want to save in your scrapbook.

We also launched a line of three digital photo frames, accessories and photo printers. Check out all the PMA news from Sony at www.sony.com/news.

We’ll also have a guest post from our resident photo expert Mark Weir, and I will be roaming the booth doing vlogs with Mark and others. I invite you to stay tuned.
