"Do you know we are ruled by T.V.?" - That question was posed by Jim Morrison back when television was barely 30 years old in the U.S. Despite nearly 30 more years of innovation, nearly everything we invent resembles our cultural obsession with the glowing light of a TV. Our video games, our iPhones, our laptops, our flatscreens, our simulcasted radio shows and our sports bars are all tiny moons of the radiant social sun that television is. I remember being nearly giddy watching TV on my first Jet Blue flight. Then it showed up at the dentist, and where I got my haircut, and my mechanic's dingy waiting area. TV is literally everywhere. It makes the internet look subversive, yet the internet is television's best infomercial. Even the concept of infomercials shows you how tolerant we are of TV's constant hustle. I'll show you a few ways to use television as a form of somatic biofeedback and find some channels in yourself that aren't found in your cable or satellite listings. We'll demonstrate with a little somacasting of the Rangers-Devils game. I'll also circle back for some SOMA NUSE on what's standing on our collective last nerve. We'll check the SAPEVINE for some expert takes on the mind controlling influence of television. So TUNE IN sapes for a 'no flipping' edition of BTR's own loose cannon hour (or so). Feeling deprived?
