Inspired by her book and its focus on Significance through a Summit Advance, Joan and her husband Tom were in Africa in September of 2012 for Senai: Climb for a Purpose, a charitable climbing expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness to enable safe water, orphan care, and agricultural production for Africa’s most impoverished communities.
