My guest Vicki Kind is a clinical bioethicist who has written a book entitled The Caregiver's Path to Compassionate Decision Making: Making Choices for Those Who Can't. Her book is a guide for families and healthcare professionals who are struggling to make the right decisions for those who are losing or have lost capacity. We are going to be discussing the four tools that make decision making a compassionate process for predictable dilemmas like taking away the car keys, moving to a long-term care facility or making the end-of-life decisions. Her work provides an adaptable system for making choices while respecting the individual’s values and beliefs. The tools and strategies we will be discussing will help listeners remove the continuous angst of, “Am I doing the right thing?”
