    Social Media Hour #32

    Social Media Hour

    Date / Time:

    Category: Internet

    Call-in Number: (347) 838-8459

This week it's back to the Other Than That studios in San Francisco for an episode that crosses from business trends to taking a deep look at how social media can touch deeply personal issues. First up, Kevin Werbach, Executive Producer of the Supernova conference joins Cathy to talk about next week's event - how has it evolved, how has the format/content adapted to changing times and what can people expect. Aaron Strout and Jennifer Leggio, co-hosts of the Quick-n-Dirty Podcast will come into the conversation with Kevin and then stick around to talk about getting "quick n dirty" with their show - why they started it and what it's all about. Finally the discussion will shift to a decidedly personal feel with Angela Shelton, author, actress and filmmaker. Her memoir, "Finding Angela Shelton" turned into a powerful personal journey one that has turned her into an advocate and "superhero" for survivors of abuse. Joining this conversation will be San Francisco psychotherapist Alison Leigh who, like Angela, leverages social media and technology as a way to connect deeply and address delicate personal issues.

Join Cathy Brooks and Chris Heuer to talk about the big issues affecting the social media industry today. In the 2nd half hour, we take your calls to answer your social media questions and provide advice for your social media business challenges. This week, we are joined by Brian Solis to discuss his take on Social Media Club's Question of the Week #6, Is social media a popularity contest or is social media about genuine relationships? His blog post on Ashton Kutcher and CNN's race to a million twitter followers was a great exposition of this topic - "The Race to 1,000,000 Followers Sends Twitter and Social Media into Relevance and Irrelevance". Join the conversation and let us know your thoughts.
