It would seem that Cathy's knickers are still in a bit of a twist after the sad showing of chauvinist behavior at Twiistup. This week a bit of a rant on women getting fierce in tech - a rant that will be all the more sassy thanks to feisty guest Jennifer Leggio. Also this week the show goes to the dogs ... and cats ... as Cathy is joined by Dogster/Catster CEO Ted Rheingold.

    Social Media Hour #41

By the time of this broadcast it will have been two weeks since the 7.0 earthquake shattered Haiti and its already precarious economic condition. The response from around the world and across the Net was swift and populous. At least as far as passing the word along about this campaign or the other. In the days immediately following the temblor, entrepreneur turned investor Chris Sacca mused that while the amount of money raised was fantastic, the fact was that if every person who retweeted or passed along some info, gave even a few dollars, the already extraordinary effort could be exponentially more so! On this week's episode, Cathy talks with some folks from Zynga about their Haiti relief effort and what they're doing to get poeple to to take that extra click. Also on the program a new venture that is designed to address precisely this problem - how to better mobilize in case of emergency/disaster.

It would appear that the world is back at work - on all fronts. Tectonic movement of the most literal sort in Haiti and less literal but no less plate shifting in China was Google in China. In between an historic court case in San Francisco. This week Cathy will tackle two of those topics with her guests: Eden James of Courage Campaign who will discuss the on-line and off-line firehose around the Prop8 trial in San Francisco. Heather Gold, comedian and host of a new on-line talk show called Tummelvision, also joins the program to discuss this subject. This week's other topic: the burgeoning markets that will have substantive impact on the world when the populations all come on line. In light of the past week's news from China about Google, what does this mean? To talk about this subject, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales joins the program.

This week's guest is Shaherose Charania, entrepreneur and head of a group that is at the forefront of galvanizing women in Silicon Valley - Women 2.0. As for the format surprises - you'll just have to tune in and find out!

We'll be talking a bit about the recent holiday season, a bit about what may be to come in the New Year, but mostly the focus is this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

    Social Media Hour #37

Forget Santa Claus, with social media we *all* know who's been naughty or nice (or more likely both). On this week's episode, Cathy will be joined by two of the industry's feisty and influential females - Laura Fitton, founder of OneForty, and Maggie Fox, CEO of Social Media Group. In what portends to be a very lively conversation, Cathy will talk with these social media powerhouses about using social media for social good during the season of giving, look back on 2009's best and worst moments and look forward into 2010 to see what trends they think will be hot (or not).
