Yes, there is hope for Scotty Hopson.

I have heard and read a lot of the lay-z-boy fans get on Scotty Hopson this year. I have as well. For some reason most fans, I think, believed this untraceable hype that Hopson was a 1 and done player. Of course the naysayers from Kentucky said he had an attitude problem, didn't try or was soft and finally that he could not shoot. They think they are right.

They're not.

Scotty may not be a 3 and done NBA player for that matter. But the numbers do not lie. Scotty Hopson is no failure.

Hopson is the best 3 point shooter on the team. His hits 40% of his shots. That's better than sharpsooper and departed senior/all-sec guard JaJuan ever shot.

Hopson scores right under 9 points a game. That's a higher average than Vincent Yarbrough as a Freshman. I know, Yarbrough is no basketball role model. He was one of the names people said were missing from the all-time 20 Tennessee basketball players. He was better than many in that top 20.

JaJuan is a fan favorite for his hustle and Defense on top of his offense. If Hopson follows JaJuan's path and improves a little each year, Hopson is on target to become an All-SEC player and one of Tennessee's best players ever.

But Vol fans do not see this because the team is underpeforming this year and no guards have stepped up to compliment the strong inside play.

It can start with beating Kentucky.
