Pat Moran, payment executive and advisor, talks about the fact that for years, small businesses have paid high fees to credit card acquirers and processing companies, often without knowing. MasterCard has rolled out new standards, which went into effect April 1, that will require acquirers and payment processors to more transparently disclose fees. They are also required to provide business owners with a clear and detailed disclosure of the fees they are charged and how they are calculated.
