Possibly the most valuable contribution leaders make to enterpreneurship is the environment they create. The environment of an organization attracts talented people like a light attracks the moth. Nothing inspires more than a great work environment.
The problem is that environment, like the weather can change. Sometimes those who once created an inspirational environment begin to think the environment is there to satisfy and meet their own needs. That is when the trust ties between the leader and the follower begin to come undone.
So what is the solution? Well, there may be several but, by far the most important may be awareness. Not what do you think the environment may be but what do your people, the followers that do most of the work, incidently, think.
